How much resin for bookmarks
A resin bookmark is a thin strip with flowers, leaves or glitter inside. Being so flat it uses little, but the thickness matters: too much and it is stiff; too little and it is fragile. Here are the grams by size and how to hit the sweet spot.
Resin per bookmark and set
| Bookmark | 1 pc | Set of 5 | Set of 10 |
|---|---|---|---|
| 15×5 cm · 0.3 cm | 28 g | 140 g | 280 g |
| 18×5 cm · 0.3 cm | 33 g | 165 g | 330 g |
| 20×6 cm · 0.3 cm | 44 g | 220 g | 440 g |
How to calculate resin for bookmarks
Length × width × thickness in cm. At 0.2-0.3 cm it is sturdy without turning into a brick. Multiply the volume by density (~1.12 g/ml) and add 10 %. The table uses 0.3 cm, a good balance of strength and flexibility.
Which resin to use
A crystal coating resin like Artline Crystal, which stays transparent in a thin layer and shows the flowers or paper inside. Avoid deep pours: at this thickness they add nothing and cure slowly. A strip-shaped silicone mold gives clean edges and even thickness.
Thin pieces that do not snap
The thinner, the more fragile. At 0.3 cm with a good-quality resin, the bookmark flexes a little without breaking. Make a hole for the tassel before it fully cures, or set a metal eyelet after curing.
Example: set of 10 bookmarks
- Piece
- 15 × 5 cm
- Thickness
- 0.3 cm
- Resin/piece
- ≈ 28 g
- Pieces
- 10
- Total (+10 %)
- ≈ 280 g
Note: Raising the thickness to 0.5 cm makes them stiff and lifts the resin to ≈ 47 g per piece: for bookmarks, thin is better.

Frequently asked questions
How much resin do I need for one bookmark?
One of 15 × 5 cm at 0.3 cm thick takes about 28 g of mix. A set of 10 is around 280 g.
How thick should a resin bookmark be?
Between 0.2 and 0.3 cm: enough to be sturdy without turning stiff. More thickness makes it heavy and brittle.
Which resin for bookmarks?
A crystal coating resin, which stays very clear in a thin layer. Deep pours add nothing at this thickness and cure slowly.
